Review: Sing, Unburied, Sing

This book was both more depressing and also more hopeful than I imagined it would be, if that makes sense. 

I read some other people were complaining about the ghosts, but they worked for me. They are there more in the sense of spirits, and apparently a connection to African-based traditions. 

This was recommended to me by a lady in Lugano, Switzerland, when I told her I haven't read much contemporary American fiction, and I'm very glad she did. In turn I also highly recommend it. 

Now I'm going to have to read a few light YA books or something to recover.

Review: An Absolutely Remarkable Thing

An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green

Very pleasantly surprised. I confess, all I knew of this book was that it was YA, which I usually don't like, and I figured it would be sort of Sci-Fi, which I pretty much never like. Anyway, I ended up enjoying it quite a bit.

While reading it I realized that there was no way a satisfying ending could be written for this, so I wasn't surprised to read in the comments that a sequel is being planned. Although, the ending was pretty decent in itself.
