This book didn't go as in-depth as I thought it would, which is probably good since so much information was new to me.
After reading this, I'm not sure I'd say Iceland changed the world (although its influence on Israel was surprising). But it is still very interesting to see how Iceland was involved and where it stood during some of the major events in history, and how these have shaped Iceland as a nation. I had no idea about the possible early celtic settlements in Iceland, how extensive their dealings with Greenland were, that the Nazi party viewed it as some utopia (until they visited) and the history of having the first female head of state was fascinating ("I don't want to breastfeed you. I want to lead you"). And Bobby Fischer's story told from Iceland's point of view was also very interesting.
