My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This book was at once remarkable for those of us who read Meditations, and infuriating for those of us who read Memoirs of Hadrian. I was actually quite surprised to find out what a bad emperor Hadrian was, at least in the latter part of his life.
I do wish it had gone a bit more in depth, but one gets the feeling that the author did not have much material to work with, delving into much of the surrounding history as well.
Still, I'm sure there is more information available that could turn this into a full-fledged biography. As it is, it's a great primer.
